Join Michelle Dunn for the Creative Off Camera Flash workshop to learn the basics in shooting with off camera flash speedlites. Learn how to make flash look like natural light, to balance flash with ambient light or to use flash as your main source of light. The workshop will start with one flash, then build up to using multiple speedlite flash units for more complex lighting arrangements. From simple to more complex lighting arrangements, this practical course will give you plenty of hands-on practice to build your skills.

This workshop is perfect for intermediate to advanced photographers who are proficient with shooting on manual mode in natural light and want to get their head around off camera flash photography.

From Photography to Etching – The Photogravure 2 Day Workshop by Silvi Glattauer

Learn the use of photopolymer plates in combination with digital photography to create Photogravures. This is a non-toxic approach without the use of solvents, or acids. The image is transferred directly on to the plate with the use of an inkjet printer. Plates are then exposed using UV light, processed with water and printed via an etching press. Gain an insight into the hybridisation of digital techniques with hand made printing processes. Covers printmaking techniques, including inks and paper options, and various colour options. This workshop assumes that you have a basic working knowledge of Photoshop and your digital camera. Outcomes for students
  • The hybridisation of digital techniques with hand made printing processes.
  • Plate making processes using the Direct to Plate method with an Inkjet printer.
  • Plate washout techniques.
  • Demonstrations and discussions in printmaking processes, including inks and paper options, colour options with roll ups and digital chine colle.
  • Students will have the opportunity to print from their own image plates. Students will take home a minimum of 3-4 prints from each plate they make.

Silvi is a photographer and printmaker with a practice that extends from commercial, editorial to fine art photography. Silvi has exhibited through out Australia and abroad, most recently at the Museum of Victoria and twice Boweness and Head On shortlisted finalist. Major achievements include winning the prestigious Nillumbik Prize and commissioned by the Victorian government to create a documenetary series for bushfire recovery and memorials in 2014 and 2016. Selected artist in residence for Print Residence, Barcelona and Inkmasters, Cairns. Silvi’s work is held collections that include the Albury and Geelong Regional Galleries, Melbourne Museum, Monash Gallery of Art and Nillumbik Shire council.  ]]>
