Journey to the gorgeous Tasmanian landscapes with photographer Adam Newcombe. The Silence of Place comprises photographs taken over a remarkably still, warm nine-day period in February 2017, from Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour to the wild and dangerous waters of the Great Southern Ocean. Newcombe’s exhibition explores the intersection between the industrialisation of the land and the traditional custodians of the region, the Truwanna people — and how an island paradise became what Tasmania is today.
About Artist
Adam Newcombe is an avid traveller with a passionate interest in history, design, craft production, photography and architecture, working in both Australia and Asia. His doctoral thesis concerned the twilight years of Tasmanian Aboriginal society.
