by Emma Stoneman

Mapping Mass showcases recent pieces from photographer Emma Stoneman, who explores the poetic forms of the built environment in her work. These abstract compositions — taken from camera to alternative perspectives through postproduction techniques — provide a symbolic language in which to chart aspects of the human condition and society. The modern urban environment provides the basis and context to examine and observe concepts of transition and transformation, isolation and connectedness, vibrance and freneticism, identity and disorientation, density and concentration.
