Nothing Is As It Seems is a body of work detailing the feelings of desire in the midst of infatuation, illustrating the feelings that arise from being enamoured with another person. Infatuation stirs feelings of joy, pain, love and rejection all at once, and silently. It is an intense period of deeply felt emotions, with everything magnified. Through these images, artist Stella Nguyen ponders the influence of passion on her own life, and invites viewers to do the same.
Stella Nguyen is an artist with many passions, whose awork explores emotions that we deeply feel but find hard to describe or name. She uses digital and analogue photography, collage and poetry, and her ideas draw from her personal experiences, background in education and art therapy, and current studies in photography.
